Is this program for me? (Who are you? And how to use this program...)

Are you a Homeschool Parent? In a lot of ways, this program is specifically for you. I've taken the national standards for science along with my personal teaching experience for over a decade and created science concepts (key objectives, educational benchmarks, curriculum standards, assessment norms... all the same thing) that are broken down by grade level and topic area so you can teach these big ideas one bite at a time.  The bottom line is that when your student is done with a section, you want them to not only know about teach science concept, but understand and be able to teach it back to you in way that really shows their level of comprehension based on the experiments they've done and conclusions they've made. There are hundreds and hundreds of hands-on science labs in this program, and each one has been specifically selected so that it supports the science concept it's correlated to. (Read more about this in the next paragraph.)

Are you a kid who loves or hates science? You're in the right place, because how will you really know whether you like science (or not) unless you really test it out for yourself? As you do the science experiments, you will be able to roll around with it, see, hear, and experience it for yourself, and store that information in lots of places in your mind. You'll be learning real scientific stuff without it feeling like it. Kids who just read about science or look at pictures of experiments but have never tried to do an experiment are trying to build on abstract ideas and usually miss the mark and don't learn nearly as much as when they actively participate in the learning process.

Are you a Parent? Fabulous! This program might just be the ticket to supplementing your child's education that they're getting at their daytime institution (school). The e-Science program not only meets but exceeds national science standards , including STEM, so your child will be more than prepared for college and technology careers. Just hand them this program and stand back. You can learn more about how this program can work for your kids here.

Are you a Teacher? Feel free to use this program to add ideas to your classroom lesson plans. Many teachers use it exclusively to teach science to their students by having the kids watch the videos and do the experiments while they supervise the activities. Learn more about how to use this program in your classroom here.

Can I do the material at my own pace, or will I get behind?

You can do the program at your own pace. Take a week or a month or six months to do one unit – all the past material will remain online for you to access for as long as you're a member.

There is so much material, will it be too much for my kids?

We put a lot of material online to serve many different kids - currently over 900 experiments in all! It's way more than most kids will get through. Feel free to do it at your own pace. Also, pick and choose from each unit – you don't need to do all of every unit, just go as deep as is right for your kids.

How far in advance will you give us materials lists?

The material shopping lists are available for each unit. You’ll find dozens of experiments with every lesson, so you can pick and choose the experiments you want to do. This program has hundreds of experiments, projects, and activities to choose from depending on your child’s interest, your family budget, and what’s available to you in your area. You don’t need to do them all to get a great science education!

Where are the materials lists?

o get to the materials list, click the Shopping List link within each unit.

What kinds of materials will I need to buy and where do I get them?

Most experiments are designed to be done with stuff you have around the house, or that you can find at a local grocery store or drug store. There will be some specialty items that come from the hardware store, or online stores (you'll find direct order links to them in the shopping list areas). Most of the specialty items are used in more than one experiment. For example, the materials that you get for Unit 10 (Electricity) are used again in Units 11 (Magnetism), 12 (Alternative Energy), 14 (Electronics), and the summer e-Camp Labs. For anything uncommon, we'll generally tell you exactly where to get it and even give you the part number. Materials lists are available in advance so you have plenty of time to get what you need.

I have a question about one of the experiments. Where can I get it answered?

Once you're logged in to e-science, just go to the experiment you’ve got a question about, and scroll down to the bottom. Enter your question in the gray comment box and click the "Submit a Comment" button.

Does a membership include all of my children or do I need to purchase multiple memberships?

I really want all kids to have a chance to try out the e-Science program, so all the kids in our household can enroll for the price of one. Even if you have 8 kids, you still only enroll once. How many other programs give you this kind of opportunity?

Do you offer a trial membership for family users?

I know I like to try things out before I commit to them, so I'm offering you the same thing. You can access the lessons for 30 days with a full money-back guarantee. If you like it, you can stay enrolled for only $37 per month for the K-8 level, or $57 per month for the advanced K-12 level, and you can cancel any time. If it's not right for you, no problem.. simply drop me a note and ask for a refund before the 30 days is up. No hoops, no hassles, no questions asked.

Are the children in my membership restricted to one grade level?

There are two levels available in the e-Science program: K-8 and the advanced K-12 level. We find that learning is not necessarily segmented by age or grade level, but rather dependent on a child's experience and interest, as well as the parent's goals. Thus our program supports this type of learning. You'll find the e-Science program is organized by topic as well as by grade level. Most families of younger students want their kids to get excited about science, so they use the program differently than older students by focusing on experiments and activities and barely touching textbooks and academic material. For older students, the K-8 content is included as a free bonus when you sign up for the advanced K-12 level. Many high school students use it extensively as a foundation. This material is also appropriate for advanced 5-8th graders as well.

I don't live in the U.S. Can I purchase a membership?

Yes! We have many students from around the globe enrolled in our program.

Do you accept any form of payment other than credit card?

Yes, we accept checks and purchase orders (from established schools and homeschool organizations) for a minimum of three months.

Do you accept PayPal?

Is your program aligned with state standards?

Yes! These program not only meets but exceeds most state standards, and is aligned with the National Standards for Science.

I'm using another curriculum. Can I use yours alongside it?

Yes, we provide conversion charts for the most requested texts from our members. For other curriculum, simply email us your TOC and we'll create a conversion chart for you and post it here.

Can I use e-Science on an iPad or iPhone?

We are happy to say that all of the videos are now iPad/iPhone compatible.

Do you teach evolution or creation?

The eScience program does not cover creation or evolution so all families may participate with our program. We focus on how to build the robot, take data and measurements, work a microscope, launch the rocket, why a laser works…basically sticking to the physics of what's going on and how to build the projects. Of course, you can always add to it in any way you see fit. Our curriculum is fully compatible with any religous perspective and has been used by thousands of Christian, secular, and others.
