Welcome to the Summer e-Camp Labs!
Supercharged Science e-Camp covers not only super-fun hands-on science activities but also solid academic content. All the academic principles are followed up by lots of activities and experiments so kids can really understand the ideas so that when they’ve finished, they can pretty much explain the universe around them, including why airplanes fly, how electricity works, and why socks disappear in the dryer. Most kids (and parents) are surprised by how much learning they pick up!
Science is like that – it’s not a laundry list to get done, but an experience of adventure, curiosity, and asking questions. It’s my job to make sure your kids have got their science totally covered by focusing on long-term understanding, not how quickly kids can memorize science principles from a book. Your kids are about to build real rockets, robots, laser light shows and sooo much more… and most kids never know that they are learning the academic stuff. That’s the magic of how I teach science. There are hundreds of different projects, activities, and experiments in e-Camp, so I recommend browsing through the experiments first and making a note of the items you need.|
|Flight Lab Soar, twirl, gyrate, float, and fly with our hands-on flight lab where you’ll get to experiment with over 30 different flying contraptions from airplanes to helicopters to things that shouldn’t really fly at all… but they do!||Kite Dynamics Lab Learn how to build several different kinds of kites, including a comet kite, rotating rotor-kite, and a diamond kite that can lift you off the ground! And the bat kite doesn’t even need wind to fly… just you.|
|Rocketry Lab Launch several different kinds of rockets, including: stomp, slingshot, blow gun, rocket ships, puff, pop , balloon racers, and magnetic rocket launchers. As you build dozens of rockets, including chemical, water, and air pressure designs, you’ll learn what it’s like to be a real rocket scientist.||Astronomy Lab Become a summertime astronomer as you study celestial objects such as stars, planets, moon, asteroids, comets, galaxies, and more that exist outside our planet’s atmosphere. Discover black holes and pulsars, how to collect meteorites, and the top ten summer targets for binoculars.|
|Electricity Lab Learn how to wire up circuits, burglar alarms, trip wires, switches and motors, remote controls, speed controllers, the electric eye, and advanced experiments in static electricity including the Franklin bell.||Robotics Lab Build over 20 different robots in this lab, including a two-wheeler robot, cable car, ferry, catamaran, brush-bot, amphibious, propeller cars, robots with gear trains, robots made out of a toothbrush, jigglebots that draw art, reversible bumper-bots, race cars, robotic arms, and more.|
|Laser Lab Discover the world of the photon (light particle) as you build a laser microscope, laser lame, laser light show, laser burglar alarms, sunlight alarms, crystal radio, and your very own set of flashlight laser tag.||Physics Lab Build a 70-foot long roller coaster, construct catapults, race mousetrap cars, blast air horns, zoom bobsleds, and create your own homemade weather station that measures humidity using your hair and tracks clouds across the sky.|
|Chemistry Lab Discover how liquids heat up in order to freeze, make dinosaur toothpaste, learn how to test foods for Vitamin C levels, make several different kinds of slime, shake up ice cream by playing football, burp volcanoes, and transform Dad’s coffee back into water. Coming August 1st!||Spy Science Forensics Lab Learn how to lift fingerprints, make artificial fingers, separate ink into its different colors, analyze handwriting and tool impressions, make rear-view spy glasses, write secret messages that require a hair dryer to read… and more! |Advanced e-Camp Looking for the advanced section of e-Camp for your older students? This is where you’ll find complete access to the Advanced e-Camp projects. Students with access to this section of e-Camp solder together robots from cell phone parts, build two and four axis laser light shows, build underwater R.O.V. robots, launch real chemical rockets, real working engines from soda cans, potato cannons, trebuchets, Arduino robotics, and learn the basics of computers with our analog and digital electronics series.|
